Every now and then, Ramen Nagi releases limited Ramen Kings, which are often very creative and innovative. Sometimes, however, they can be very outrageous and some are just downright questionable. Some of these, in our opinion, are the FIlipino-themed Ramen Kings when they announced its release. To prove our point, we actually tasted two out of the three recently released Filipino Ramen Kings.

Binagoongan King (Php495.00)

The Binagoongan King is the traditional Ramen Nagi tonkotsu broth mixed with bagoong (shrimp paste) and coconut milk/cream, ramen noodles topped with fried (or seered?) pork belly, eggplant, and green chili.

Honestly, our experience with the Binagoongan King is not that great. The first few spoonfuls are actually delicious and very sinful (good kind of sinful). It's also a little spicy maybe because of the green chili. Looking back, we should have decided to end it right there. The soup was already "nakakasuya" after some time. For us, this is mainly because this dish reminds us of our usual ulam (which needs rice! Hehe).

Actually, this dish could actually be good with rice. We should have ordered rice and poured the Ramen Soup all over it to make it #YesNakakatabaPAPA. The soup is also saltier than other Ramen Nagi Kings (we assume because of the Bagoong) which also contributed to our #NoPAPA recommendation for this dish.

Seafood Tinola King (Php495.00)
This Limitd King is Ramen Nagi's take on Filipino Tinola, with traditional tonkotsu broth with ginger topped with seafoods (crab, mussels, shrimp, clams).

Aligue King (Php495.00)

The final addition to Ramen Nagi's Filipino-themed Limited Kings triple treat is the Aligue King. Again, with the tonkotsu broth as the base but this time mixed with aligue (crab fat) with spicy paste and topped with deep-fried soft-shell crab and scallions.

The Aligue King provides a wonderful experience for each bite/ (or slurp). The aligue mixed into the soup elevates the usual taste of the soup of your Ramen Nagi King. This Ramen King is so sinful yet so delightful at the same time. The soft-shelled crab makes this dish very different although it could have been better if the crab was not soaked in soup and was crispier. Nevertheless, this dish is still exceptional and definitely deserves our #YesPAPA recommendation.
